What about the roof?

WAIT! ALL WE HAVE IS a boring flat roof! What are some ways to make beautiful rooves?

Castle Roof

WHENEVER I BUILD A house out of stone, I like to pretend it’s a castle. So I like to make it look like a castle.

ONE WAY TO DO THAT is to make a pattern on the side of the roof of one block, no block, one block, no block. See how that looks like a castle?

Pretty cool. That’s called crenulation, by the way!

ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE crenulation is with stairs. Put the stairs sideways. I kept some blocks in the corner because I like how it looks.

Stairs are a bit tricky. They can be put in all directions and angles. To make them flat on the ground like in the picture, do this: Stand in front of the place you want them to do. Then aim the cross near the back of the floor in front of you.

But you can play around with stairs facing different ways and see how they make cool patterns and join up in interesting ways!

Speaking of stairs, what if you want a triangle roof, just like a lot of houses have?
